The do it yourself anchor i posted above is based on the "Pogo" anchoring system that I'm now posting. This video shows just how strong they are. All thats holding the horse, atv, garden tractor in the video is a simple 1 7/8" fender washer buried 16 inches down in the ground. Ive also found these stakes work great on party tents in the yard. The only downside is you have to dig them out afterwards.

WOW... that works super well...

I don't trap (yet) but I can think of TONS of stuff this would be GREAT for around the property...

I'd have to use all stainless construction to make things a bit more permanent though.

Any idea how to get one of these OUT of the ground to re-use it elsewhere other than with a shovel?

VERY impressive!

just about impossible to pull out any other way except to shovel, unless your built stronger than bull, Heck a horse couldnt even pull it out!! If your gonna leave in the ground just be carefull if you got to mow near them.

When you use them for trapping in field situations, its wise to let the farmer know about them and to remove them before he works the fields. Or it may be the last time you get to work those same fields!!! Most times there not needed in a woods situation because theres trees to anchor to.

I've recently started useing Berkshire Earth Anchors instead of re-bar stakes.
I find that if the ground isn't frozen..I can usually pull them out and use them again.
The trick is to pull straight up..
If the horse had a short lead.and was pulling UP..I'm willing to bet it could pull out the anchor.
I 've never had a Fox or 'Yote pull one out .

I have no experience with the berkshires, But I believe from seeing them in pics aren't they alot smaller in size than these conduit anchors. Now the Pogos from the second video I posted is only a 1 3/4 fender washer and the guy couldnt pull them straight up. Your correct though its easiest to pull straight up. An animal set up correctly never has a straight up shot unless you anchor to close to a tree and you get a coon. Other than that most times the animal is gonna be pulling at an angle from the ground level and that way all these anchors have extreme holding strength.

I've used the Berkshire and the 'Iowa' earth anchors.. I've had great luck with both.
I was always going to make my own 'Iowa' anchors. But the 'conduit' ones are easier to make since I don't have a welder. Thanks for the link.

Here's were you can buy different types of anchors...http://www.snareshop.com/cgi-bin/snareshop/catalog.html?cat=Stakes%20And%20Earth%20Anchors

The first and most important part of becoming a news anchor is getting the facts straight.

As an exercise to this point, re-read this forum thread from the beginning and make sure that the topic matches what you are asking :-)

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to the forum.
