Still Holding Bone . . .

Still Holding Bone . . .

Postby Ms Grit » Mon Feb 15, 2010 10:00 pm

I have to say that I was sooo excited when I viewed these pictures in my free 5 minutes this afternoon before I went in for my hunt. I thought that I was looking at "Split Personality," a buck that I had targeted back in October but haven't seen in quite awhile. I named him "Split Personality" because of his double split brows, but after looking at this guy zoomed in, he seems to be a 5 x 3 and not Mr "Split Personality." Either way, I know that there are at least two bucks on this property still holding bone and one who is a shooter, 8 points or better in this spot. I'll be at it the rest of this week to see if I can't get lucky just one more time :) By the way, the time on my camera is an hour late as I never turned the time on it back.

Well sure enough I had three does come in just about at last light tonight, but they were very very skittish and never got within my range until it was too dark to shoot. When they finally left, they did so to my left. As I was getting ready to climb down, my head lamp caught the eyes of a lone deer about 35-40 yards straight out. I probably gave one of these boys an education :banghead:

Yes Cory and he got great footage of the three skittish does that just wouldn't come in until it was too dark to shoot, but to really get our hearts pumping, he went up the tree first and as I was half way up, I hear him whisper . . . "DEER !!!" It was only a spike but I didn't know that as I tried to get the rest of the way up, get my bow up and an arrow knocked, all without being detected.

Good luck to you also
