Bear denning starts in late Feb. I didn't get out this year with da bum knee. I hope to go out 2010 all I need to do is hook up with Kelsey bear biologist and we should be good to go;

was hunting sunrise mt. a few years ago
(stokes state forest) and saw a bear with
4 cubs. was wondering how unusual that
was to have 4?

I've seen a sow with 5 cub's twice. Once over by Newton and then again in West Milford. Seen them with 4 a couple time's... 2 or 3 are more the norm. The little guy you see pictured above up the tree was one of 3 . Hunted Sunrise Mnt. this past opening day. Parked on top and walked down in Tinsley Trail. Didn't see a deer or hear a shot but we did see several bear's. One place you wouldn't want to drag a bear or deer out of. Not for the faint of heart.
