No bird for me today . . .

Postby Ms Grit » Mon Apr 13, 2009 3:01 pm

Worked a bird first thing this morning for about half an hour. He seemed to be getting closer and closer and responded each time I called. When I think he was about 75 yards out, he got totally quiet. I then heard him about 5 minutes later and he was much farther away. I can only guess he met up with some hens on the ground, even though I did not hear them. About 30 minutes later in the direction he seemed to be heading, I heard BANG ! ! !

I won't be getting out tomorrow or probably not even Wednesday due to Matt's surgery to screw his broken off elbow bone back into place, so good luck to all getting out again in the next few days . . .

Robin....
At least you talked to a bird...... Joe and I heard one gobble at daybreak then the wood's got quiet.... But that's hunting for ya.... Got to sprinkle in those slow day's or it wouldn't be fun.... Back at it in the am....
Best of luck with Matt's surgery tomorrow...

You did good, at least you had a bird working. Carlos (Dsaint) and I hunted all day ,and hard. We climb those mountains till I was begging for oxygen. I sounded like a freight train with no steam.
We finally had a bird answer my call, and then I heard another club member who was on the other end of the property call and the bird answer him. About 10 minutes later he hear him shoot three times and did not get the bird. That is all the action we had for the day.
