Passaic River Paddle, Pics added

Postby davet140 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 9:12 pm

Today a bunch of us from the KFS got together to beat the cabin fever. We paddled a small unfrozen 6 mile stretch of the passaic river. We put in around 10am not sure how cold it was but overall it was a nice day.

It was about 16 of us we looked like a motorcycle gang only with kayaks,

MSGDAN was kind enough to set the whole thing up and host a great get together at his house afterwards

Actually that trip was safer than when I'm out on the bay alone in warm weather.

We got doctors in that group a firefighter, ems even a lawyer just in case  A lot of us took safety and kayak rescue classes and we all had proper equipment. My kayak is also safety certified by the coast guard.

With the dry top and pants I was wearing I probably could have been in that water for 30-45 min before getting hypothermia

Safety is Number 1 priority!
