Finally, it took me a week!

Finally, it took me a week!

Postby NJMark » Thu Nov 27, 2008 12:03 am

Well I started putting out snares last Wed. and it took a week to connect. Just around the time of my first doubting my reasoning behind my set locations and BAM!!! I had to check in the pouring down rain on Tues morning and with it being another strike out something had to happen today.

I speed through the line at a normal walking gate seeing that every snare is still perched right there on their wires........right where I left them. So as I approach the very back of the property and get to my 5th snare from the last of 30ish snares. I see its not there, I get a little closer and see this masked bandit. I set it on a very small trail leading out into the marsh. I put this one in on Fri. it was a 5 in. loop around 5 inches high Not a big coon but I'll take them anyway I can.

If the day/this story ended there I be a very happy man. So I dispatch the coon, set a new snare and head towards the truck with a big grin on my face. So I walk a hedgerow through a field that has a snare set on it. As I'm walking I see the stick that has my support wire mounted on is laying on its side. I look all around and dont see anything. I have to go over to the tree I anchored to and follow the extension cable untill I found this guy.I had set this snare with an 8 in. loop and 10 in. of the ground..... I went from being a happy man with a grin to a guy that was out in a field alone jumping up and down hooting and hollering!!
