And 2009 is Over . . .

Postby Ms Grit » Fri May 22, 2009 5:16 pm

Well, at 11:40 am, I oficially raised the white flag in defeat, disgust and disappointment. I could hear sweet echoes of Mamma Cass replacing my already fading memories of distant gobbles in my mind . . .

I harvested one bird, and hunted ALL but 4 days. I also had quite a few amazing experiences in the turkey woods this season, many of which were never even posted anywhere, but the majority of which didn't even involve turkey's. Somehow I know that the opportunies will not be there next year for me as the time I had available this year was a bittersweet gift, a result from loosing my job, one that I will not have available again, so perhaps, my season was to simply have the experiences I did, and to value and appreciate them for the lessons and smiles they brought me :)

If you only knew how many times those birds would come in and hang up at 30 yards, just beyond my vision. Same spot and same birds as last year too, (My Christmas Tree Birds) so yes, those birds defeated me once again. And yes, I did get one, simply because I laid in wait, never even called to them once, but the rest of the season was soooo tough, and sooo disappointing turkey wise, but truely fulfilling in so many other ways :D
