Happy father's day (Kayak Fishing)

Postby davet140 » Sun Jun 15, 2008 9:52 am

Launched this morning at 5:15 am nobody out except me!

The sun never came up, I had my raingear on because they said it might rain. Hardly any wind at all!

Caught my first fish on a yak in Jersey. I was hoping for a striper but a blue hit my T&W instead.

Caught another one just like the first an hour later and while paddling back to the launch I was crossing the main channel while trolling and a boat was coming in, I paddled faster not only to move out of his way but to also get my line out of his was so he don't run it over with his prop. Right then I got a huge hit. I had my knife ready because I didn't know what was going to happen this boat was already right behind me, I tried to subdue the fish because he was taking out so much line and headed towards the boat and that's when the power pro snapped and I lose the fish and the lure  If I had to bet I would bet that it was another blue (big one) because he hit the T&W while I was going fast. My search for bass continues...

Excellent!!!

This is really common. Sit-on-top kayaks always get water in the wells. Sit-in kayaks are a dryer ride (until they ARE NOT!) at which point you are upside down and trying to get back in the boat and pump it out with waves crashing over you

Good job! Hard work is starting to pay off!!
