Reloading

Reloading

Postby kmtpr » Fri Jan 23, 2009 8:54 pm

Due to ammo changes, ect, been wondering if one can still do reloads in NJ? Also, what about hollow points? Can you reload jaketed HPs? I was asked earlier about reloading in NJ from a friend on an out-of-state board I go on. As I have never gotten into this, I was unable to respond and told him I'd ask some here.

We only reload shotgun shells but I know people who reload pistol and rifle ammo in NJ.

Its gonna be a big problem if this ridiculous serialized ammo law is enacted though...

Yes, George that is true. That was one of the reasons I was asked as to changes that have already taken place in NJ, regarding firearms. In other states, many reload all kinds of ammo, just need to make sure what the powder mix is, ect.

I was sent this today..
It looks to be true. See NRA article link below.

http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Feder ... px?id=4265

Just a reminder and worth checking
Read the last sentence also!!!!!! (below the link)
Snopes is still researching this, as of 01/04/2009

Ammunition Accountability Legislation
The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers.. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.
Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!
If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!
This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.
Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!!
To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

Thanks for posting that, Red. I have already known about this insane bill. This is what prompted this discussion of reloading due to some of these "changes" the opposition want to implement.

Quite a few people reload. I was at the range last week shooting my AR .223 . A guy came over to me and asked if he could have my empty casings. i told him sure. He said he reloads almost all his ammo. I was actually thinking about trying it myself. Seems like a fun hobby that can also save you some money.
