GUN RANGE REPORT (PICS)

GUN RANGE REPORT (PICS)

Postby pv216 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 10:25 pm

I went back to the range today to finish dialing in my Remington 1187 slug gun and my TC encore muzzleloader.

Conditions- Hot and light wind

This is the 1187 with a Luepold 3x9 40 rifleman shotgun/muzzy scope

I am shooting Lightfield 2 3/4 inch slugs. The first pic is 50 yards. I started a little left. First i centered it and the raised it about an 1 1/2 to 2 iches high. the last shot is the one dead center and a little high

Next i moved out to 100 yards. My first few groups opened up a bit at 100 yards so i put the gun down and let it cool off a bit while i sat in the truck with the ac pumpin. Then i shot my last 3 shot group at 100 yards.

Next was the TC Encore. It also has a Luepold 3x9 40 Rifleman shotgun/muzzy scope. I am shooting 2 Triple seven pellets with a 250 grain TC shockwave.

I took a few shots at 50 yards but this is the only one i took a pic of. the groups were great at 50 yards.

I then moved out to 100 yards. i shot a few 3 shot groups. they were all good. here is a pic of the Encore 3 shot group at 100 yards.

All in all i was very pleased at the way i shot today. Even though it was about 90 degrees, i had a great time. I will be out again soon. im gonna try and stretch it out to 125 and 150 yards.

Nice shooting. It brings something to mind when I see what the new technology has done with Muzz's and shotgungs from the yester days. I bought my first Muzz a TC Renegate with balls good out to 70 yards with open sights (no scope at the beginnig) before that we were sneaking in the punkin balls for our shotguns till they legaized the slugs. Today shots of 200 yards is nothing with a rifled barrel shotgun or a Muzzy.

Now when they bring in the X-bow that are suppose to be llike compounds (according to the experts here) were are we going to be at two years from now when they start bringing out the new 550 feet per second bolt throwers. Did not want to highjack your thread. Just giving an example on how far we have come in just 10 years with muzzy's and shotguns.

Again awesome shooting. I like to see hunters put their time in and practice with what they preach.

Tony, FWIW, compounds of today are not like they were 30 yrs back, either.

Pat, great shooting.
