Fish Finder Advice

Postby DylanT » Tue Jul 12, 2011 7:14 am

Hi all,

Anyone use GPS Fish Finders? Wanting to know the REAL difference between spending a few thousand $$$ or just a couple of hundred bucks. I'm not going to appear on the Deadliest Catch anytime soon but do the cheaper ones serve the same purpose?

Thanks.

Found some here, for example: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/brow ... c=47&s=461

I've used a GPS Fish Finder and really enjoyed it. The ability to save your readings to CF and read it later is really nice.

Some units can interface with Radar etc which is nice, too.

They can be very "spendy".

See I would disagree - I really loved using GPS to find those holes over and over again - same thing with rivers and of course the ocean. Just my $0.02

I remember the first sonar we ever had with thermal paper readout - would review it at night with dad on the kitchen table. Now that was a real hoot!

Take your video camera with you, make the hunt last forever.

The South Jersey Pines contain the oldest deer population within the state (fact).
